Carl Edwards gets first win of season at Coca-Cola 600

Carl Edwards celebrates after winning the Coca-Cola 600 Sunday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

CONCORD, N.C. — A look at all the results and action from Sunday night's Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway:

WINNER: Carl Edwards squeezed his fuel to the very last drop, giving him a first win at Joe Gibbs Racing as the No. 19 claimed the Coke 600. Edwards, Greg Biffle and Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished 1-2-3 by making their gas last for the final 60 laps.

Edwards did his traditional backflip, then took the checkered flag and ran into the stands to celebrate with fans in the first few rows.

Edwards said he was relieved more than anything.

"I've been stressed," he said. "I'm so competitive and I'm not happy with how we've performed and the results we've had. I feel like this is a gift. This is truly a gift."

It was Edwards' first win since June 22, 2014 on the road course at Sonoma Raceway.

LOOSE WHEEL: Denny Hamlin was leading with 38 laps to go when he was forced to pit with a loose wheel. Since the pit stop came under green, Hamlin went a lap down in the process.

BLEW UP: Ryan Blaney had an excellent run going for Wood Brothers Racing and was running in the top 15 for most of the race. But with 119 laps to go, Blaney's Ford engine suddenly blew up. He finished 42nd.

WALLED IT: Justin Allgaier was still on the lead lap when he slammed the wall in Turn 4 and sustained heavy damage, forcing him to pit road for extensive repairs at lap 135.

SPINNER: On lap 88, Jimmie Johnson suddenly lost control of his car and spun out in Turn 4. He didn't have any damage, but lost track position and had to restart 31st (Johnson was 13th when the spin occurred).

AGAIN? YES, AGAIN: Johnson spun in the same spot with 127 laps to go, but this time he crashed into the inside pit road wall. Due to the damage, the winner of three 1.5-mile races this year had to go to the garage.

"We have nothing to lose so we're trying to be as aggressive as we can on pit calls and strategy," Johnson said while his team repaired his car in the garage. "We just spun — again. ... My car was fine in clean air, but it was so wicked in dirty air and traffic. We saw that at Kansas and the All-Star Race, I don't know if it's just me or other cars too."
