The truck went down an embankment and hit a tree.

Green died in the hospital.

"The initial investigation indicates excessive speed to be the contributing factor in the collision," the North Carolina State Highway Patrol reported.

During the on-scene investigation, Henry River Road was closed in the area for about two hours.
