Suspect named in deadly north Charlotte shooting

Medic confirmed the victim was pronounced dead along Hoover Drive.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man has died after a shooting in north Charlotte Friday evening.

Medic said it happened around 10:30 p.m. along Hoover Drive, just off Nevin Road and near Gibbon Road. The victim, who was later identified as 26-year-old James Chambers III, was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department confirmed the scene was being investigated as a homicide.

On Saturday, police said they arrested a suspect in the case. The suspect was identified as 29-year-old  Zacharias Lowery.
