Man found safe a day after being reported missing in Burke County

He and his dog were safely located and are now back home.

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — A man who was last seen Tuesday morning in Burke County has been found safe and brought back home.

The Burke County Sheriff's Office was previously looking for the man, who left his home around 10 a.m. that morning along Gold Mine Road in the Dyartsville area. He was seen walking near the wooded area or on roads nearby, between Dyartsville Road and US Highway 64.

At the time, deputies noted the man was accompanied by a small dog wearing a harness and leash.

In an update Wednesday evening, deputies announced he and his dog were safely located. He was treated on scene by first responders and returned home.
