Concord student dies in school parking lot, police say

The incident happened at Valor Preparatory Academy.

A Concord student died by suicide in their school's parking lot, police said on Tuesday.

The incident happened in the parking lot of Valor Preparatory Academy on Ruben Linker Road, according to the Concord Police Department.

The student was found around 12:45 p.m.

Lifesaving measures were attempted on the student at the scene, but they were later pronounced dead at the hospital, according to police.

No details were shared on the student's identity out of respect for the family.

Valor Preparatory Academy shared the following statement on this incident:

"We are thankful to law enforcement and medical personnel who responded to a tragic incident that occurred in our parking lot this afternoon.  All students within our building were safe and were dismissed as normal after the lockdown was lifted. We are not at liberty to discuss the incident or any of our students and must refer all additional questions to law enforcement."
