NASCAR at Atlanta: Start time, lineup, TV/radio schedule

HAMPTON, Ga. — It's NASCAR race day at Atlanta Motor Speedway, and we've got some essential information you need to get ready for Sunday's Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500.

START TIME: Maj. Dan Rooney, CEO and founder of the Folds of Honor Foundation, will instruct drivers to start their engines at 1:08 p.m. ET today, followed by the green flag at 1:16 p.m. So if you want to skip the pre-race show and just tune in for the race, turn on your TV at 1:16 p.m.

RACE DISTANCE: The Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 is 325 laps around the 1.54-mile Atlanta Motor Speedway for a total of 400.5 miles.

NATIONAL ANTHEM: Sgt. Brent Whitaker from the Air National Guard's "Band of the South" in Tennessee will sing the national anthem today.

TV/RADIO SCHEDULE: FOX will broadcast today's race and has a pre-race show beginning at 12:30 p.m. ET. The Performance Racing Network (PRN) will call the race on the radio.

WEATHER: The National Weather Service is calling for iffy weather today. There's a 40% chance of rain or drizzle today with a high of 51 degrees. The chance of rain only increases throughout the day, up to 50% Sunday night. Monday has a similar forecast.

LAST TIME: Kasey Kahne scored a clutch victory last year on Labor Day Weekend to launch himself into the Chase for the Sprint Cup just two races before the cutoff for NASCAR's 10-race playoff.

STARTING LINEUP: Joey Logano is having a pretty good start to the season. After winning the Daytona 500 last week, Logano on Friday won the pole position for today's race. Kevin Harvick was supposed to start second, but he blew an engine in practice Saturday and will have to start at the rear of the field. The lineup looks a bit unusual because of an inspection mess Friday which left 13 cars unable to attempt at lap.

Here's the starting lineup for today's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Atlanta:

  1. Joey Logano
  2. Kevin Harvick (will drop to the back due to engine change)
