Oktoberfest begins its two-week beer festival in Munich

Yes, we know it isn't October just yet, but the beer must go on. The granddaddy of all beer festivals, Munich's two-week extravaganza begins on Saturday. It draws about 7 million thirsty souls to the Bavarian capital from Sept. 20 to Oct. 5. This fest, which began as a royal wedding feast in 1810, has it all: parades of regional costume and horse-drawn carriages, carnival rides. Even Americans can join in on the action.

Everyone's favorite father, Dr. Cliff Huxtable, made his debut on NBC Sept. 20, 1984 — 30 years ago this Saturday. The sitcom showcased the Huxtable clan and its comedic adventures in Brooklyn, N.Y., but it wasn't shy on teaching those valuable life lessons. Staying on the air for eight seasons, the show was praised for breaking racial stereotypes and solidifying Bill Cosby's status as a comic icon.

No. 1 Florida State faces off against Clemson after Jameis Winston suspension

The top-ranking Seminoles will host Clemson's Tigers on Saturday evening, just one of a series of college and professional football games throughout the weekend. Florida State recently suspended Heisman trophy winner Jameis Winston for half of Saturday's game after he yelled profanities on the school's campus.

Clinton Global Initiative brings President Obama, Hillary Clinton to meeting in New York

The Clintons come out in full force starting Sunday to support former President Clinton's charitable foundation as it commences its 10th meeting. President Obama, Katie Couric, Sesame Street's puppet Raya and Alibaba Chairman Jack Ma will all be speaking to the event's attendees.

Buckle up for National Check Your Seat Day

In order to promote increased safety of children in automobiles, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) organized a nationwide campaign for Saturday. Throughout the country, interested drivers can go to designated child car seat inspection sites to have their seats approved.
