It seems a fitting and sweet send-off.

Robin Williams was found dead on Aug. 11 in his Tiburon, Calif., home, near San Francisco.

And on Aug. 12, his ashes were scattered in the San Francisco Bay, according to multiple outlets, including RadarOnline, which obtained a copy of the actor's death certificate.

Huffington Post notes that under California law only authorized persons may receive authorized copies of death records. That would not include media. But the document is signed by Richard N. Benson, who appears in the county directory.

The certificate, issued by the State of California, County of Marin, also lists Williams' cause of death as "pending investigation." Toxicology reports are pending.

Reps for Williams tell USA TODAY they are not commenting.

Look for Billy Crystal and Sara Bareilles to pay tribute to Williams at the 66th Emmy Awards on Monday.
