Sunny skies and hot today

Rain and storms this weekend

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Today

Sunny with highs well above the 77 degree average. Highs will be in the upper 80s today (which will make the top 5 warmest list again). All in all it will be a gorgeous day! So get outside and enjoy it, even though it will be a hot one for this time of year. Winds will be light.

This evening will be mild since it will be a longer cool down from todays highs. 70s like for most of this evening with lows bottoming into the low 60s.

Tomorrow

Look for a mix of clouds and sunshine Friday with afternoon temperatures in the mid to upper 80s. Rain and storm chances increase by the evening and again after midnight. Lows will be in the mid 60s.

This Weekend

Rain and thunderstorms are likely both Saturday and Sunday. This is not the news anyone wants to hear with the Lovin' Life Concert coming to Uptown and outdoor events like the Strawberry Festival. The good news each day looks to avoid washout status. Lightning will be the main threat for all the outdoor events over the weekend. The best chance for thunder and lightning comes up mid afternoon into the evening on Saturday. Highs in the mid to upper 70s.

Sunday comes again with more scattered rain and thunderstorms with highs in the upper 70s.
