Mostly dry Friday before higher rain and storm chances arrive this weekend

Watch for lightning potential both Saturday and Sunday if you plan to be outside.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Tonight

Expect a mild evening across the region with lows bottoming out around 62 degrees. Locally dense fog is possible Friday morning, especially for areas near and southeast of Charlotte.

Friday

Look for a mix of clouds and sunshine Friday with afternoon temperatures in the mid 80s. There's a low chance for a pop-up storm during the afternoon and evening hours. More scattered shower activity moves into the Carolinas as we head into the weekend.

This Weekend

Rain and thunderstorms are likely both Saturday and Sunday. This is not the news anyone wants to hear with the Lovin' Life Concert coming to Uptown and outdoor events like the Strawberry Festival. The good news each day looks to avoid washout status!

Lightning will be the main threat for all the outdoor events over the weekend. The best chance for thunder and lightning comes up mid afternoon into the evening on Saturday with highs in the upper 70s. Scattered lightning is possible Sunday with highs in the low 80s.

Stay weather aware if you plan to be outside, especially in the afternoons and evenings. A great tool to have is the WCNC Charlotte app.

Pollen Report

Tree pollen is the main cause of high pollen levels this time of year, but will slowly decrease throughout the month of May.
