The unsettled pattern continues through most of the work week.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Sunday

Scattered lightning is possible Sunday afternoon but the threat is slightly lower compared to Saturday. Expect pockets of heavy rain, too, especially in the afternoon hours. Highs will peak in the low 80s with some sunshine peeking through the clouds.

Although rain and storm coverage is expected to be lower today, the WCNC Charlotte mobile app is still a great tool to have if you plan to be out and about! Stay weather aware and have a shelter-in-place plan if you'll be outdoors.

This Week

The unsettled pattern continues through early this week with more scattered storms Monday and a few lingering through Tuesday, too. We finally look to get a break on Wednesday with the hotter day of the year so far! Highs are expected to finally reach 90 degrees.

Eventually, storms return by the latter half of the work week and the first big days of the Wells Fargo Championship (Thursday and Friday). But long-range models indicate cooler and drier conditions for the last two days (Saturday and Sunday) which includes Mother's Day Weekend! Since this is more than a week away, it's subject to change so stay tuned for updates.

Pollen Report

Tree pollen is the main cause of high pollen levels this time of year, but will slowly decrease throughout the month of May.
