Early on June 3, a little past 2:30 a.m., police said a female security guard was making her rounds at a construction site on New Bern Street when the suspect pulled out a gun and forced her into a room.

Police said the suspect assaulted and robbed her before running from the building.

Detectives identified Harrison as the primary suspect in the case based on DNA evidence, according to CMPD.

According to CMPD, the victim encountered Harrison twice before at the construction site when he was sleeping and asked him to leave.

CMPD was also actively investigating two sexual assaults involving children.

Police said a 12-year-old girl reported being targeted at Mason Wallace Park.  A CMPD source told NBC Charlotte the girl reported that she went to play basketball at the park several months ago, when a man who had been watching her, got out of a car and sexually assaulted her.

Kisha Jones said she’ll be watching her grandchildren closely at the park.

“That’s just horrifying, I mean that’s the days we are in now though, you just got to stick with your kids,” Jones said.

In another case just last week, a 13-year-old girl called for help from a local gas station. Investigators said she reported being sexually assaulted by three men, including the primary suspect who she met online.

Police said that suspect drove her to an apartment, sexually assaulted her, and then left her with the other two men.

CMPD said none of the sexual assault cases were related.
