Congressional candidate Dan McCready visits Charlotte

Early voting is underway in North Carolina.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Dan McCready, the Democratic candidate running in a high-stakes congressional race, visited the Queen City on October 20.

McCready, along with former governor of Massachusetts Deval Patrick, were here for a canvassing lunch. After which, they participated in some door-knocking in the area.

McCready is facing Republican candidate Mark Harris in the competitive 9th Congressional District race.

He used today as an opportunity to explain to potential voters why he is running for the position.

"This is not a career for me," McCready said. "You asked my wife a year and a half ago, she would've said we'd never planned on running for congress. I'm happy spending time with my four kids and building my company, this is a calling I feel to get off the sidelines and fight for the people of North Carolina that deserve better."

President Trump is showing his strong support for the Republican candidate, Mark Harris, announcing he will be back in Charlotte next Friday for another rally.
