CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The evening commute was a mess on Tuesday as storms rolled through Charlotte and heavy downpours flooded streets and parking lots. Meteorologist Brad Panovich said a possible tornado hit the Charlotte Motor Speedway, and damage was reported.
Heavy rainfall moved through the Charlotte area Tuesday evening, with 1-2" of rain per hour between 6 6 and 9 p.m. Overnight scattered showers will persist until Wednesday morning. Watch out for some patchy fog in the morning as we drop to around 57° Tuesday night.
On Wednesday, there will be some morning showers then late day clearing with highs around 70°. There will be more rain on the way for Thursday but mainly scattered showers late in the day.
