GASTON COUNTY, N.C. -- A police officer was taken to CaroMont Regional Medical Center after he was hit by a car in Gaston County.
It happened around 12:29 p.m. near exit 20 on I-85 North. NBC Charlotte was told Gastonia Police Officer Brad Bumgardner was outside of his cruiser at a traffic accident in the emergency lane when he, as well as his patrol car, were struck by a vehicle.
Officer Bumgardner was being treated for non-life threatening injuries. The accident was under investigation.
