Duke Energy says over 1,200 people are without power in the Myers Park area after a large tree fell on top of power lines Monday afternoon.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Duke Energy says over 1,200 people are without power in the Myers Park area after a large tree fell on top of power lines Monday afternoon.

Crews responded to a downed tree call in the 2100 block of Radcliffe Avenue.

Officials did not say if anyone was hurt from the incident.

Queens University canceled their afternoon classes due to the power outage.
