Sunshine and above-average warmth across the Charlotte area

Higher rain and storm chances return to the region this weekend.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Wednesday and Thursday

Mostly sunny, much warmer, and slightly less humid today with highs reaching the mid 80s. Tonight will be mostly clear with lows dropping to the mid 50s.

Tomorrow will see abundant sunshine once again with highs even warmer. A few spots will reach the upper 80s to near 90 degrees. If Charlotte hits 90, it would be the first time of the year. Lows fall to the upper 50s.

Friday

Look for a mix of clouds and sunshine Friday with a few scattered showers and storms in the afternoon and evening. This will be the start of a multi-day opportunity for showers and storms locally.

Weekend

Unfortunately, showers and thunderstorms are looking more likely for both Saturday and Sunday. This doesn't look to be a widespread threat of severe weather but any opportunity for lightning is notable with so many outdoor events this weekend.
