CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police began a death investigation Friday morning in west Charlotte.
The investigation began shortly before 8:30 a.m. at the Mystic gas station on Olde Steele Creek and Wilkinson Boulevard. While authorities' vehicles blocked two outbound lanes of traffic, officials seemed to focus their investigation on the area around a tree next to the road.
A CMPD officer on scene told NBC Charlotte that homicide detectives were initially called, however, they are now investigating the death as "something else." The officer also said they believe the victim died "a natural death."
